We’d add this: a word like “assertive” or “competitive” will often get flagged by bias tools, but an assertive woman who identifies strongly with that profile may be exactly who you’re looking for. She won’t be put off by the word. She’ll be drawn to it.

The monitor is a useful editorial check. It’s not a mandate. What you do with the flag is your call, and in our view, that’s exactly how it should work.
